History
The hospital was founded in 1924 by David M. Brotman. In the 70's, the hospital became the Brotman Hospital and in 2005 the Southern California Hospital.
After experiencing financial problems, the hospital emerged from bankruptcy in 2009 under the leadership of Prospect Medical Holdings. Since the 1920s, the hospital has expanded from an eight-bed clinic to 420 beds in three buildings.
In 1984, Michael Jackson was admitted to the hospital due to a burn to the head during a shooting for a Pepsi TV ad. Later, he will give his insurance premium to the hospital and the same year, the care unit for burn victims was named «The Michael Jackson Burn Center» in his honor. Unfortunately, it will close in August 1987 because of financial problems.
